Back in November Kobo announced that they would be sold to a Japanese company called Rakuten. Yesterday the acquisition was finalized: Kobo is now officially owned by Rakuten.
While this may sound like bad news for Kobo, it should actually end up helping them. Rakuten is a very successful e-commerce company and Kobo will continue to operate out of its Toronto headquarters with the same management team.

With the explosion of new ereaders and gadgets getting into people’s hands this holiday season, there’s no better time to feed your ereader or tablet than right now.

Kobo is running a sale on the Kobo Wi-Fi while supplies last. It is refurbished and is selling for $39.99 with free shipping from Kobobooks.com
.
The regular price is $89 so that is a considerable discount. In fact I think it’s the lowest priced E Ink ereader I’ve ever seen. $40? That’s crazy. Even if it is refurbished.

Here’s a roundup on ebook coupon codes for Kobo, eBooks.com, eHarlequin, and Carina Press. As usual not all publishers allow discounts on ebooks so these codes will work on non-agency ebooks only.
Agency ebooks include any titles from the following publishers: Random House, Penguin, Time Warner, Harper Collins, and Simon & Schuster.

It looks like Amazon is starting up with the Kindle Daily Deals again. This morning they tweeted about offering The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo for $1.39. This is a one day only sale; the price will back up to $5.59 tomorrow.
The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane is a very highly rated book. It has a rating of 4.5 stars over 332 reviews, so it must be good. In fact, it won the 2006 Boston Globe-Horn Book Award in Fiction.
