There have been a number of older Kindles on sale for cheap lately at Woot.
They currently have the 1st generation Kindle Oasis available for $149 refurbished and it includes the leather charging cover. They have both the black and merlot covers.
That’s a good deal for the Kindle Oasis 1 considering Amazon still sells them new for $289 so that’s nearly half price.
It’s a shame that people have to resort to buying an older model if they want a premium 6-inch Kindle, but the software is still the same the newer models.
The new Kindle Paperwhite is more of an mid-level model, and since they discontinued the Kindle Voyage there is no premium 6-inch Kindle anymore, just the 7-inch Oasis.
In some ways the 1st gen Kindle Oasis is better than the 2nd gen model. It’s smaller, lighter, and more portable. Battery life is better too, and it’s more pleasant to hold without the metal back.
