The Kobo Forma is currently selling for $235 on Amazon with free shipping through Triplenet Pricing.
While it’s only $15 off the regular price, this is the lowest I’ve seen the Kobo Forma selling for new, and since Kobo never puts it on sale this is probably about as good as it’s going to get.
Lots of folks were holding out hope that Kobo would discount the Forma or the new Kobo Libra for Black Friday or Cyber Monday, but unfortunately Kobo is continuing ahead with their passive sales strategy.
Apparently they’d rather leave it to a 3rd-party seller on Amazon to offer the best price around.
The Kobo Forma is also available on Amazon for $229 refurbished, but I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t just spend $5 more on a new one with a full 1-year warranty instead of a 90-day warranty.
The 8GB version of the Kobo Forma originally sold for $279 when it was first released, then Kobo dropped the price to $249 a few months ago.
Interestingly it’s been on the market for over a year now and it’s still the only ereader that uses an 8-inch flexible E Ink screen. The flexible screens are generally only used on larger 10.3-inch and 13.3-inch models. They are lighter and more durable than typical glass-backed E Ink screens.
See my Kobo Forma review for more details and a closer look at in action.
