Amazon is having another Kindle sale but this time around the Kindle Kids Edition is the only model being offered at a discount.
The Kids Kindle is marked down to $74.99 with free shipping. That matches the lowest price ever for this particular model, tying Amazon’s Prime Day price.
The Kids Kindle is the same as the non-ad version of the entry-level Kindle that sells for $109, except the Kids version comes with a cover, an extended 2-year warranty, and a 1-year subscription to Amazon Kids+ for access to content for kids.
This is one of those rare times when it makes zero sense to buy a regular entry-level Kindle considering that it’s not on sale. Kids Kindles can be used as regular Kindles too, so you might as well save $15 and get an upgraded warranty and a free cover and not have to pay an extra $20 to remove the annoying ads (the Kids model doesn’t have them, even when used as a regular Kindle).
Most people probably just assume the Kindle Kids Edition is only for kids but that’s not the case. It’s just a repackaged entry-level Kindle so if you can buy it for less there’s literally no reason to pay more for the non-kids version.
Check my Kindle Kids Edition Review to see the kids Kindle in action and to learn more about its limitations.
There’s also a separate deal that runs through the end of the month where you can get 20% off when buying two Kindles, but the Kids Kindle is no longer included in the deal now that it’s on sale.

They don´t offer the Kids Kindle in the Mexican Amazon site. I was wondering that if you get the kid friendly screen savers with the regular Kindles when you switch them to the kid´s profile?
Nathan says
Indeed that does work, at least on current models, but they only appear when using a kid’s profile, the same as the Kids Kindle.
