Here’s another list of 10 free highly-rated Kindle ebooks for the weekend, along with some Kindle-related deals.
The Paperwhite 4 is on sale again but the price isn’t as low as it has been in weeks past. I also noticed they have a promotion on the Kindle Oasis where you can get 15% off when buying two, but most versions aren’t in stock so it’s kind of a weird time to run a deal.
Please note the free Kindle books listed below are free as of October 2nd, 2021. Most of these titles are free for a limited time only and will expire in the next few days or hours before going back to the regular list price.
A good place to find more free Kindle books is on the free bestsellers list at Amazon.
You don’t need to own a Kindle ebook reader or a Fire tablet to read these free ebooks; you can use free Kindle reading apps for iPad, iPhone, and Android devices, or use a computer or web browser.

I’m sure it’s a bit of a bore posting about the free books each month, but I just wanted to say THANK YOU for doing it as more than once I’ve snagged something I enjoyed from your list.
Though I do wonder, is the warm front light on the Oasis 3 really a yellow color highly reminiscent of a bodily function? I hope not, it’s a turn off every time I see a picture of the Oasis 3.
Nathan says
You’re welcome! My Oasis doesn’t really get that yellow color at all, it’s more subtle at the low end and more orange at the high end.
Lou Sevens says
Lou Sevens here- I am thinking of doing the 20% trade in soon so that I am ready for Black Friday as the item now must be appraised beforehand.
RIght now my 2017 Oasis is valued at $75.
The trade in would then come to $190 – 20% for $152 – $75= $77+ tax – essentially then I could get $113 credit for the 3 year old Oasis I have with the declining battery.
* I believe from past experience the black Friday deals do not lower the 20% trade in discount it appears to be on the original price.
so if a BF sale would have the signature for $150, the 20% trade in would come off the $190 and on the $150 to then make it ~ $190-$40-$38 = $112 and then the kindle would be maybe $37.
-Thought I would pass on this speculation as we learned from prime day that the trade in discount is no longer instant
Nathan says
I used a trade in for the new Kindle and it was processed immediately and I don’t have to send it in until November. I already got the discount and the credit. I even canceled my first order and it was automatically reapplied to my second Kindle order. Also, I wouldn’t be so sure of the Signature Edition being on sale for BF considering the shipping date is already being pushed back toward the end of November.
Tommy says
I have two Oasis and two Paperwhite. Just now, I tried to see how trade-in work. It turns out any device would be accepted for $5 only (They estimate the Oasis 2017 would be worth $75, but once you click Yes for hold a charge and No for screen crack, you get $5 accepted value) I tried all my old devices and get the same resu.lt.
It could be a bug.
Nathan says
I saw that too and I think it’s just confusing how it’s worded. You get the full value if the condition is as described but you have to accept the terms that it will only be worth $5 if the condition has to be adjusted once they receive it.
Tommy says
I see. Thank you! I hate it when it is up to their judgement. How are you going to debate when they give you a low value?
Just the eReader case costs more than $5. I value my eReaders and each one look brand new. I guess I won’t do the trade-in.. I did the trade-in once back in November 2020. It was great because they gave me credit at once and discount at once for an immediate purchase. I only needed to send in the old Kindle with maybe 30 days. But Amazon stops doing that.
Nathan says
As far as I know if it’s registered to your account that’s how it still works. As I mentioned above I already got the credit and the trade-in bonus and still have until November to send the Kindle in.
Sportbike Mike says
I’ve traded in several Kindles and I have never had them question the initial value estimate. Basically if you took care of it, you’ll be on the high end.
Lou Sevens says
@Nathan – thanks for letting me know. that the credit is instant . I am on the fence about returning my Oasis because despite the lower battery life than my 2018 or 2019 Paperwhite I enjoy reading on it. I like having the page turn buttons.
I wonder if there is any hope for an updated and/or larger Oasis. I still find the 7″ more efficient for me than the 6″=
OT- are there any non-Amazon e-readers with larger screens that are easy to integrate with your Kindle library either through the app or file conversions?
Nathan says
You can remove the DRM on Kindle books and read them on whatever device you want, but it takes a lot of the convenience out of it having to manually download everything to a computer and deal with converting. The Kindle Android app works pretty well on Onyx’s ereader, no need for converting, but they’re more expensive than Kindles and don’t have page buttons, except the new Nova Air has an add-on case with buttons.
