After criticizing Amazon earlier in the week for not putting any Kindles on sale during their Big Spring Sales event, they added a few deals on Kindles over the past couple days. I guess they just didn’t want to reveal all their sales at once.
Now the Kindle Scribe can be had for up to $100 off, and the both kids Kindles are marked down as well. This is the first time the Kindle Scribe has been on sale since December, aside from a brief Prime exclusive sale at the beginning of January.
It’s worth noting the kids models are exactly the same as regular Kindles so if you’ve been waiting for Kindles to go on sale these can be used by adults as well while the regular Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle aren’t on sale, and it’s a much better deal to get a kids model right now during the sale instead of paying full price for a regular Kindle—they all have identical features from a software standpoint.
The kids models are a bundle package that include a case, an upgraded 2-year warranty, and they come with a 1-year subscription to Amazon Kids+ for access to a library of content for kids.
The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition is still on sale as well, and it’s the only one on this list that’s a Prime exclusive sale, but the Signature Edition bundle packages are also on sale and they don’t require a Prime membership.
If you have Prime you’re probably better off paying $5 more for the Signature Edition than the kids Paperwhite because the SE doesn’t have ads and it has double the storage space, and it also adds wireless charging and an auto-brightness sensor. The kids model does benefit from the upgraded warranty and free cover, though.
