Earlier this week, Amazon posted about some of the deals that they plan on rolling out for Black Friday Week, and they specifically mention the new Kindle and the new Kindle Paperwhite.
They don’t say what the sale prices will be, just that select Amazon devices will be up to 55% off, including the new Kindle and new Kindle Paperwhite.
I wouldn’t expect to see either of those devices anywhere close to 55% off, but it will be interesting to see how serious Amazon is about Kindle sales this year.
Amazon used to have really good sales on Kindles during Black Friday and Cyber Monday—that was always one of the best times of year to buy Kindles—until last year when Amazon decided to jack up the prices to the highest sale prices ever for some Kindle models.
Last year they only took $20 off the Kindle and the Kindle Paperwhite. The previous year the same Kindle Paperwhite was $45 off.
However, the Kindle Scribe was at its lowest sale price ever during that time at $115 off. Don’t expect such good deals on the Kindle Scribe this year because the new model doesn’t even get released until after Black Friday and Cyber Monday.
Amazon is still selling the 16GB version of the original Kindle Scribe, though, and they’ll probably put it on sale to clear out remaining stock.
I also wouldn’t expect to see a sale on the Kindle Colorsoft now that they’ve pushed the ship date back to mid-December, but you never know with Amazon.
Amazon is going to start their Black Friday sales on November 21st so the new Kindles might go on sale then. I’ll post about all the Black Friday ereader sales for the different brands once they go live. Onyx doesn’t usually do sales, though, but Kobo usually knocks $20-$30 off some of their devices.
Sometimes Amazon discounts the kids Kindles before putting regular Kindles on sale, but so far they’re all still full price. Sometimes they have deals on Kindle Unlimited as well, but they didn’t mention that in press release. They did mention that some Kindle books will be 50% off, though.
