Every month since last June when Amazon added audiobook support and syncing to Kindle apps, aka Whispersync for Voice, they’ve been giving away a free ebook and audiobook combination each month to help promote this exclusive feature.
The free title for February is Charles Dickens’s classic Great Expectations. Make sure to check the box under the Buy Now button to automatically add the audiobook copy for free.
The Kindle ebook is normally free anyway, but you have to get it in order to get the audiobook for free during the promotion period.
The audiobook is professionally narrated by Simon Prebble and it normally sells for $15.95.
The ebook copy of Great Expectations is 490 pages in length and the audiobook is 18 hours and 31 minutes long.
With Whispersync for Voice you can switch back and forth between reading the Kindle ebook and listening to the Audible audiobook using a Kindle reading app for iOS or Android. It also works with all Fire tablets, the Kindle Keyboard, and Kindle Touch. Plus Fire tablets and the Kindle Android app support Immersion Reading, which highlights the words on the screen as the audiobook is read aloud.
After you get the audiobook, you can listen to it any way you want; you don’t have to use Whispersync for Voice, a Kindle, or even a Kindle app. The audiobooks are offered through Audible.com so you can use any of their apps or download the audiobooks to listen on a computer, in a car, or burn them to CD’s, etc.
Here’s the book description for Great Expectations:
In what may be Dickens’s best novel, humble, orphaned Pip is apprenticed to the dirty work of the forge but dares to dream of becoming a gentleman—and one day, under sudden and enigmatic circumstances, he finds himself in possession of “great expectations.” In this gripping tale of crime and guilt, revenge and reward, the compelling characters include Magwitch, the fearful and fearsome convict; Estella, whose beauty is excelled only by her haughtiness; and the embittered Miss Havisham, an eccentric jilted bride.

For anyone on the fence – Simon Prebble is an awesome reader who could make the phone book an interesting listen.
