With Christmas just one week away, there are still some good deals to be had on ebook readers and tablets. In fact some deals are just as good as Black Friday sales, and some are even better.
As predicted, the new Kindle Paperwhite that’s on sale for $99 is expected to be back in stock in a day or two so you can still probably get one in time for Christmas with 2-day shipping.
Amazon also has the latest 9.7-inch iPad with Apple Pencil support on sale for $249 ($80 off) and the Fire HD 10 is on sale again for $119 ($99 refurbished)—both are good tablets for ereading with their high-resolution screens.
The Kobo Clara HD is still on sale for $99 at Walmart as well. It has a 300 ppi E Ink screen, and unlike Kindles, it has a frontlight with adjustable color temperature.
The Nook Glowlight 3 and new 10.1-inch Nook Tablet are on sale again too.

I received a refurbished Voyage from Woot and it’s in perfect condition! You were right Nathan, it has way more crisp screen than the Paperwhite! The background is lighter and the text is rather black on the Voyage whereas it’s rather grey on the Paperwhite. Thank you! What I noticed though, is if you take the Paperwhite closer to a lamp, the text looks darker but not as great as on the Voyage.
The only downside is that they sent me an international 3G version even though it’s been listed as Wi-Fi only. Since I don’t live in the US, I have to use a VPN service and the 3G connection defeats the purpose of being able to buy books from the US Amazon for me! Luckily it turns off when WiFi is on, but, anyway, any future update allowing to disable 3G would be highly appreciated.

Hi I’m looking for an E-Reader for manga and comics which should be the best ones?
Nathan says
It depends on a number of factors. Where are they from, what format are they, are they optimized for smaller screens at all?
Anthony says
Mostly cbz and from Kobo.
Nathan says
Kobo’s software is optimized for their comics and manga, and they also support CBZ, so either of the large models, the Kobo Aura One or Kobo Forma, would be best. Some folks like the Likebook Mars or a larger Onyx for manga but it would probably be a pain to use Kobo’s manga on it. The Kobo app would work but it’s pitiful compared to the software of Kobo’s ereaders, and it isn’t optimized for E Ink.
