Amazon has added some new color choices when purchasing the Kindle Paperwhite from Amazon’s website (other retailers just have the black color option).
When the Kindle Paperwhite 4 was first released in November 2018 it was only available in black. Then in summer 2019 they added a blue Kindle Paperwhite.
Now they’ve added two more color options, plum and sage.
The new colors are available with both the 32GB and 8GB models, but the cellular model is still only available in black.
Oddly all of these colors have been available from Amazon’s China Kindle store for a long time, at least since they added the blue version to the US site last year.
I always thought it was weird that they would offer more color choices in some countries than others, but now it appears that most Amazon websites have all four colors available.
Considering a cover hides most of the color, it’s surprising that people even care what color the back of the Kindle Paperwhite is, but it doesn’t hurt to add a little color to an otherwise monochrome device.

I have the blue Paperwhite and I use it without a cover. I like having the different color options, they stand out in a sea of black and gray devices. Same with the different colors for the Fire tablets. It brings a touch of whimsy.

I always wonder about those who care about the color of electronic tabs, e-readers, and phones. I have a cover on everything. I carry my phone and kindle everywhere (at least before the Pandemic; now my running around consists of going to the grocery store.). So when I shove a kindle in my purse, I want it covered.

Most people don’t use covers.

Hmm. Everyone I know uses a cover. But, we take our kindles out. We read everywhere.

I like the color options but won’t buy another PW4 just to change color at this point. Wish they would have released when they first release the device.
