Red (Fig) Kindle Scribe Colorsoft Now Available to Order

January 28, 2026 by Nathan Groezinger 2 Comments

Fig Kindle Scribe Colorsoft

Amazon released the new Kindle Scribe Colorsoft back on December 10th, but they’ve only been selling the standard “graphite” color with a dark bezel and back.

Now the Fig Kindle Scribe Colorsoft is finally available to order with a much more colorful look, being drenched in dark red front and back. Even the stylus is red. And unlike the graphite version, the fig version is shipping right away, at least for the time being. Shipping for the graphite version has been 2-4 weeks out since it was released.

For some reason the red version is only available with 64GB of storage space; the 32GB model costs $50 less but it’s available in graphite only. The red version costs the same as the 64GB graphite version, and it’s the most expensive Kindle ever by a wide margin at $679.99.

On the plus side, you can get a 20% discount by trading in an old Kindle, which would take the price down to $543.99. Getting $135.99 off by trading an old broken Kindle that’s only worth $5 is the way to win the price war against Amazon on this—everyone should do it.

Other than the color, the Fig Kindle Scribe Colorsoft is exactly the same as the regular graphite version. It would be nice if Amazon would add more real pictures of the red Kindle Scribe on their website instead of just a bunch of phoney renderings, but it’s the internet so everything has to be fake. It would be nice to see some real pictures to get a better idea of what the color looks like in real life. Normally I’m not a fan of red devices, but the dark red does look nice.

Are you planning on getting a Fig Kindle Scribe Colorsoft? Or are you going to wait for it to go on sale first? It’ll be interesting to see how big the discounts are when Amazon finally starts putting these new Kindle Scribes on sale. Prime Day might be epic this year.

My wife has been using my older Scribe B&W. She said if she wants to pay $600 or more on a device she’ll just buy an iPad.

Not buying at all. I love the color but hate the price and not too thrilled with Kindle. I am saving my money to see what Kobo offers up. Hopefully they will release an updated Elipsa.
