Musnap has released a new Android-powered ereader that also doubles as an eNote, and it has a unique screen size and a compelling set of features, including physical page-turn buttons.
The Musnap Air Pro has an 8.2″ E Ink Carta 1300 screen with 293 ppi, and it includes a frontlight with adjustable color temperature. The resolution of the screen is 1920 x 1440, and they claim it supports 256 levels of grayscale.
The screen on the Air Pro also supports stylus input (a stylus is included) and it appears to use an EMR touchscreen, based on the fact that it supports 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity and the stylus doesn’t require charging.
The Musnap Air Pro has an octa-core CPU with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage, and there’s a microSD card slot that supports cards up to 2TB. It has metal frame and the device is 5.4mm thick with an overall weight of 270 grams. It has a 2600mAh battery.
It reminds me a little of the Kobo Sage with the page buttons and 8″ screen, except the design is more streamlined and the hardware is more advanced and it runs Android 14, with support for installing Android apps. It seems to have a lot of similar software features that Onyx’s Boox devices offer, like app optimization settings and custom navigation gestures and a “TurboRefresh” mode to minimize ghosting.
I would advise keeping an eye on the price. Last week it was listed at $599 on Amazon, with a coupon code to take the price down to $509. Now it’s listed at $523.99, with a 15% off coupon to take the price down to $445.39. That’s a pretty big difference from one week to the next, especially for a new product. I don’t know why companies continue to play games with prices when Amazon now shows the price history right there on the page.
