Back in July, Amazon first introduced their new Kindle Unlimited ebook subscription service in the United States, where users pay a monthly subscription fee to gain unlimited access to the list of ebooks available in the program.
Now Kindle Unlimited is available in the United Kingdom as well, and it comes with a 30-day free trial. The service costs £7.99 per month, and offers unlimited access to a library of over 650,000 ebooks, although it lacks titles from major UK publishers. Audiobooks are included too, more than 2,000 of them, and they work with Amazon’s Immersion Reading feature and Whispersync for Voice.
Here’s the link to the list of ebooks and audiobooks available through Kindle Unlimited on Amazon UK.
The ebooks are available on Kindle devices, as well as Kindle reading apps, including iOS and Android, and Kindle Cloud Reader.
The way the service works is subscribers get unlimited access to all the ebooks and audiobooks available through Kindle Unlimited. You can have up to 10 titles downloaded at once. You can keep the ebooks for as long as you pay the monthly rate, but once you cancel the account and stop paying, the ebooks all go away. It’s more like renting ebooks than buying them.
Amazon is the biggest company offering ebooks for a monthly subscription rate. Other ebook subscription services include Scribd, Oyster, and Entitle.
