A new ereader with a 6″ color E Ink screen called the Musnap Neo C has turned up for sale on Amazon. Shipping is still a ways out, but it’s currently being shipped by Amazon and not some iffy third-party seller.
It’s probably another rebranded iReader like Musnap’s new Aura C eNote that showed up on Amazon a couple months ago, but I’ve never seen this particular model before.
They say the Musnap Neo C runs Android and it supports installing Android apps, but nowhere does the listing say what version of Android is installed (the Aura C runs Android 11, which is pretty dated at this point).
In fact the listing is pretty light on details overall. All it says is the Neo C has a 6″ Kaleido 3 screen and a frontlight with temperature control. And it has a quad-core 2.0 GHz CPU with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The Neo C also has Bluetooth and WiFi, and that’s pretty much it for details.
The picture shows some contact pins on the back of the device, but there’s no mention of their purpose, and they’re not selling a cover for it so who knows…
I kind of like the dark green color of the plastic casing; I haven’t seen that color on any ereaders before. It’s different and it might complement color E Ink well.
The Musnap Neo C is currently selling for $219 on Amazon with free shipping. The price seems a little high considering you can get the Kobo Clara Colour for $159 with the same 6″ color E Ink screen, but Kobos don’t run Android. There’s also the Meebook M6C that runs Android 11 and it sells for $189. I don’t understand how these companies like Musnap that you’ve never heard of before think they can charge more for similar products than more established companies that have been selling ereaders for years.
