It’s that time of year again when Kindles are on sale at their lowest prices. This year’s Prime Day deals are even better than last year, with lower prices on the Kindle Colorsoft and the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition.
The new Kindle Scribes are on sale for the first time, and boy are the prices tempting. Both the Kindle Scribe Colorsoft and frontlit Kindle Scribe are 24% off, and Amazon’s overpriced cases are on sale as well.
One thing that’s different this year, it doesn’t appear that you can use a trade-in discount to get the prices even lower. When clicking on the Prime Day deal price the 20% trade-in option disappears, but maybe that’s just because I don’t have Prime. Update: Trades are working, according to a number of reports. Nate-How is the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition 32GB (newest model), listed in your comment today on sale,different from the 12th edition PPW (which I have) except for having 32 GB storage?

Aside from having more storage, the Signature Editions add wireless charging, an auto-brightness sensor, and it doesn’t have screensaver ads. The SE also has a feature that lets you turns pages by tapping the sides or back of the device, which doesn’t work great but I still like using it sometimes. The back material is also slightly different on the SE; it has more of a sheen to it and it doesn’t show smudges as much.
Yeah, basically one is rubberized getting dirt and dust, second is shiny hard plastic. After years of the rubber it’s a really nice change 🙂
I have Prime and I’m being offered trade-in for a 2025 Scribe, but it’s only good for some devices? It only lists my 2024 Scribe, Oasis, and Bose Q35 headphones. Not my Colorsoft SE, Paperwhite SE, nor Bose Ultra headphones. Odd. Up to $80 for the Scribe, and up to $35 for the Oasis and Bose headphones.
Current gen devices like the Colorsoft aren’t eligible for trade-ins yet. Good to hear trades are an option for you though. I see the option when I’m not signed in so it must be a glitch.
I decided to get the ColorSoft 26 gig. I haven’t wanted it in the past because of poor vision but since getting my cataracts removed my vision is do much better. I have the PaperWhite SE and haven’t used the SE extras. I don’t keep more books on my Kindle than I am reading on plus my next books to read if I am going on a trip.
I got my ColorSoft today and I am totally surprised at how great the screen is.
I’m officially crazy trying the same thing again and again hoping for different result. But it actually worked for once.
I’m on vacation in Spain so I have decided to order one more Kindle from this generation because I saw many photo reviews of Paperwhite here and they had screens with no issues unlike all Kindles I bought on German Amazon.
Low and behold on my eighth try it finally worked. I have Paperwhite that has white light when warm light is at 0 (the previous were always yellow) and for the first time there is no ugly yellow/orange stripe at the bottom and the screen doesn’t go from white at the top to orange at the bottom.
I’m really happy, I didn’t think any Kindle with good screen actually exists this generation. I just wish I didn’t have to go through all the struggle.
When I returned two Kindles via Amazon.de they told me next time if I return something, they won’t refund me anymore bacause I’m abusing the system, so I had to go through multiple stores and in the end go to different country to buy the right one 😂
But in the end this Paperwhite SE I bought is really great and also so much faster than Colorsoft (I have both). Colorsoft will probably go to my daughter, I don’t want to see that ugly blurry yellowing screen ever again. And I really hope next generation they will fix these issues.
