There aren’t any sales going on for ereaders at the moment but there are some good deals on tablets right now, even some high resolution tablets that are great for reading, like the 8-inch Asus ZenPad S and the 7-inch Google Nexus 7 2.
There are some certified refurbished models for cheap, and Best Buy has a good deal on the 8-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 for $100 off plus a free $50 gift card, but I think the deal expires today so don’t delay.
Walmart has an 8.9-inch Windows 10 tablet with a keyboard for $69, an incredibly low price for the amount of features it offers.
The Dell Venue 8 7000 Series is on sale for $199 and it has some nice specs, including an 8.4-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600.
Many of the tablets on this list are cheaper than the Kindle Paperwhite ($119), which is pretty crazy when you think about it, especially considering the Paperwhite comes with ads at that price and you have to pay an extra $20 to remove them.
Considering how low tablet prices continue to drop, the future of E Ink screens and Kindles may be in more danger than we think…

Thanks Nathan. Based on this article I clicked on your link and purchased the Dell Venue 8 7000 tablet for use exclusively as an ebook reader.
Beautiful 8.4 inch OLED screen, 2560×1600 resolution which is 361 PPI. 16gb memory is enough for ebooks. It runs Android 5.0 Loliipop.
Love the hi-res color screen, 6mm thinness, how light it is. Added the Kindle app, B&N app, an app that downloads ebooks from Project Gutenberg, Overdrive app for borrowing library books, kobo app, Holy Bible app, and apps for comic books.
This tablet is one of the best to use as a color ebook reader. Which other color ebook readers have 361 PPI? I’m thinking roughly around, uh, none.
Nathan, you should do a review on this tablet for use exclusively as an ebook reader. Any of the negatives reported on this tablet do not apply if it is just being used as an ebook reader.
Downside: I added a 32gb microSD card, and my tablet acts as if I removed the card… from time to time it stops recognizing the card. When that happens the app icons on my home screen disappear. I have to restart the tablet for Android to recognize the SDcard, then add all the app icons back to the home screen. Then I have to do that every day! Sometimes multiple times a day. So I don’t use the card anymore. Maybe I should have just purchased the 32gb model and passed on buying a microSD card.
