OverDrive Adds Disney Digital eBooks to Libraries, Updates iPad App

February 17, 2011 by Nathan Groezinger

A couple of announcements this week from the OverDrive blog, they’ve released an ebook and audiobook app for the Apple iPad and are adding a collection of nearly 700 classic and new Digital Books from Disney to library’s digital catalogs.

The OverDrive Media Console iOS app has been optimized for the large screen of the iPad and has been updated to add support for both landscape and portrait modes, as well as the addition of a new calendar that shows the number of days left until a title expires.

The OverDrive iPad/iPhone app supports Apple devices running iOS v4.0 or newer and can be downloaded for free from iTunes.

As for Disney’s Digital Books, libraries in the United States and Canada can now add a collection of over 700 Disney Digital Books to their catalog for customers to download as ebooks or read online.

The online browser-based titles are accessible from Windows and Mac computers and are enhanced versions that users can interactive with using Disney’s magic pen to turn pages, look-up definitions, and hear words pronounced.

The Disney Books are also available in EPUB and PDF formats for ereaders, tablets, phones, and other portable devices using OverDrive’s free apps. Many of the Disney titles are available now with more being added soon.
