A couple weeks ago a new jailbreaking method was released for Kindles called Vera, and now there’s another new jailbreak called SpiderCat that’s even easier to use and it supports a wider range of Kindles, going all the way back to the Kindle Oasis 3 from 2019. The SpiderCat jailbreak is so simple anyone can […]

Sale on Like-New Kindle Scribe and Kindle Colorsoft
Now that Amazon has raised the prices of Kindles by $40-$50 each, people are waiting for them to go on sale again. Unfortunately there isn’t much going on in the Kindle sales department lately, but Amazon does have a few “like-new” Kindles on sale. The Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition is on sale for $243.99. That’s […]
Kindle Colorsoft Too Pricey Compared to Other Color eReaders Now
Of all the Kindles that had their prices increased last week, the Kindle Colorsoft was hit the hardest in terms of how the price compares to similar models on the market. The cheapest color Kindle is now $289.99. That’s a lot higher than color ereaders from other brands, especially since Amazon has yet to release […]
Amazon Should Ditch Ad-Supported Kindles After Price Increase
If Amazon expects people to pay $149.99 for a basic Kindle now, they should at least get rid of the ridiculous requirement to pay them an additional $20 on top of that to get rid of the advertisements that appear on the sleep screen when the device is turned off. It’s crazy to expect people […]
Amazon Just Raised the Prices of Kindles by $40-$50 Each
I’ve got some bad news to share. The price of Kindles suddenly skyrocketed overnight, and they are now $40-$50 more expensive than the were just yesterday. The 16GB Kindle Paperwhite is now priced at $199 for the ad-supported version, up from $159. The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition is now selling for $249. That’s a $50 […]
Jailbroken Kindles: How to Remove Ads and Install Simple UI for KOReader
Last week I posted a video showing how to jailbreak Kindles and install KOReader using the new Vera jailbreak, and so far I’m liking it a lot, but the Kindle’s annoying screensaver ads made me not want to use the device, and KOReader’s default homescreen and library view is pretty inelegant. The first thing I […]
New Firmware Update for Kindle Oasis Adds Hardened DRM
If you’re still using a Kindle Oasis 3 (the 10th generation model from 2019), Amazon has a surprise for you. They just released a new software update for it, but it’s not the kind of update that adds any shiny new features. The new software version is 5.18.2.1.1, and the release notes don’t acknowledge its […]
How to Jailbreak Kindles and Install KOReader Using Vera (Video)
After the new Vera Jailbreak got released earlier in the week, it looked simple enough for me to finally give jailbreaking a shot. It turned out to be even easier than it looked, and I recorded the process to help show others how jailbreaking works. The cool thing is everything can be done from the […]
