Nearly every tech site on the web is posting about rumors and credible leaks in regards to Apple releasing a new iPad Mini soon.
Lots of people love the smaller form-factor of the iPad Mini for reading ebooks. In fact some would consider it one of the best tablets for ereading.
The iPad Mini 4 was released back in 2015 so it’s definitely due for an update.
However, initial reports suggest the new iPad Mini 5 won’t be a major upgrade over the previous version. In fact the leaked design is nearly identical to the iPad Mini 4.
It’s expected to have a Lightning port for charging, unlike the iPad Pro models that have changed over to USB-C. It’s also expected to keep Touch ID and the 3.5mm headphone jack.
The latest rumors suggest the iPad Mini 5 will support both the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard so that’s a big plus, if true.
Analysts expect the iPad Mini 5 to be more of a budget model than before, similar to the 2018 9.7-inch iPad that retails for $329. If so, hopefully it’ll sell for more like $299 instead of the $399 that Apple still charges for the 4th gen Mini.

I am really more interested in a larger screen kindle oasis. Seven inch is too small and I don’t understand why Amazon does not make a larger kindle screen when phones now are almost seven inch in size.
You know, I used to want bigger Kindles as well. I then tried out the first Oasis, didn’t like the form factor. I now have the Kobo Aura One and I think I prefer my Voyage. I only read ebooks on eink devices and the bulk of my reading is on commutes, so I think 6 inch readers are ideal for me.
Like most users of the internet I own an array of tablets, from Chuwi to Apple plus four or five Amazon Kindles and Fires. I like and use them all. IMO the single best feature of my IPad over every other tablet is the battery life per charge. If the iPad mini to come has a strong battery life, I’m in. If its so so and I can watch as the % battery life goes down faster than my next cup of covfefe like so many of my tablets, Apple can keep it. Its all about the “juice” to me.
My iPad with a techarmor antiglare screen protector and accessibility low brightness with white balance has really impressed me. Its a really solid option until eink color and framerates come up. I can read and watch YouTube in bed and the wife doesn’t mind and my eyes don’t hurt.
