Kindle Oasis Now Turns Pages Faster?

January 19, 2021 by Nathan

Kindle Oasis Page Turns Faster

There’s a new banner image (shown above) that has started showing up on the main Kindle landing page at Amazon with an interesting claim about the Kindle Oasis.

The banner says: “The most advanced Kindle just got faster. Kindle Oasis now with faster page turns.”

This new banner just started showing up but there’s been no other indication that page turning speed has improved recently.

Is this just a new marketing tactic or did they actually change something?

None of the recent Kindle software updates have mentioned anything about improving page-turn speed in the release notes. Perhaps that would fall under the “performance improvements, bug fixes, and other general enhancements” section that’s always included in the notes, but if there was a significant change you’d think they’d mention it.

It’s more likely they’re just looking for a new marketing angle since actual improvements have become a rarity in recent years. The Kindle Oasis does turn pages a bit faster than the Kindle Paperwhite and $89 Kindle, but it’s not a huge difference and is hardly worth bragging about. Maybe they’re just stating the obvious but the way it’s worded it makes it sound like a recent improvement. The current Oasis was released in 2019 so it isn’t exactly new, and the previous Oasis was released in 2017 and it’s just as fast because it has the same exact hardware, minus warm LEDs.

Have you noticed pages turning faster on your Kindle Oasis? How would we really even know if they did improve the page-turn speed?

I wonder if they actually released a brand new Kindle Oasis with faster page turn buttons. It seems totally like Amazon to do this, release the same design with a very minimal update. I wouldn’t put it past them. Classic Amazon move.

I could totally see them doing that. Kindle Oasis 4 now with faster page turns! They’d also tack on some other useless feature like adding more storage space or offering a new color.

The only thing I’ve noticed with Oasis 2 is that it’s really easy to advanced a LOT of pages by accident. I was at 91% in my book and all of a sudden I was at 96%. (The good news is that at least I noticed this and didn’t really read anything important that gave away the ending.)

Has anyone noticed the lack of good Oasis covers at Amazon? Even the vertical flip stand cases are kind of sparse now. There used to be a lot of cover choices, etc. (Makes the think there could be a new version on the horizon, or maybe the cover companies think there could be.)

I bought an Oasis 2 from Woot recently and feel like I hit the jackpot as it has really good lighting and the text seems crisp too. (Although I did just get new eyeglasses, so that might help.) 🙂

I love my Kindle Oasis 2 and I haven’t noticed any improvements in page turning.
I’m just waiting for the new Colour Oasis when it finally come out at the start of the next century.

I haven’t noticed a difference, but I don’t think this is something I would notice anyway – I was fine with the speed before.
