Kingrow has launched a crowdfunding campaign for their new Kingrow K1 smartphone that we first saw last month.
It’s available to pre-order on Indiegogo for $349, $299 for early orders. The device is expected to start shipping in August 2019.
Unlike a typical smartphone that uses an LCD screen, the Kingrow K1 is a specialized phone that features a 5.2-inch E Ink screen.
The dual screen phones are a more common approach, with an LCD screen on the front and an E Ink screen on the back, but the Kingrow K1 has an E Ink screen only.
There have been very few smartphones with E Ink screens, and none have been very successful. Perhaps the Kingrow K1 can change that.
The device runs its own specialized software that’s based on Android 8.1. It comes with a few apps pre-installed, including the Kindle app to read ebooks.
The phone has a dual SIM card slot and a microSD card slot for cards up to 128GB. They claim that the battery can last for 20+ hours for reading and making phone calls.

I don’t know—the crowdfunding campaign is over now—you’d have to ask the folks with Kingrow.
