Amazon has the entry-level Kindle on sale again, and this time the price is lower than usual. In fact I’m pretty sure this is a new low price for this particular model, at least from Amazon (I think it might have sold for this price from Woot recently).
During the sale you can get a new Kindle for only $49.99 with free shipping. That’s $40 off the regular price, and like usual you have the option to add 3 months of Kindle Unlimited for free as well.
They also have the Kids Kindle available for $59.99, and frankly that’s a better deal because it comes with no ads, which cost an extra $20 to remove on the $49 version, and it also includes a cover and an upgraded 2-year warranty.
As I’ve said many times in the past, there is no difference between a Kids Kindle and a regular Kindle—it’s just marketing. The one detail to consider is you can get three months of Kindle Unlimited for free with the regular Kindle, but not with the kids version because it comes with a year of Amazon Kids+ instead.
Being able to get a new frontlit Kindle for only $49 is a pretty good deal, especially considering the new Kindle Paperwhite costs nearly three times as much. The new Paperwhite is faster and it has a better screen and a better frontlight, and it has some extra features like Dark Mode, but the entry-level model still offers most of the same reading features as the more expensive models.

I just bought a Kindle for $59.99 (gift card balance in a retailer) two weeks ago to anticipate a trade-in for Kindle Paperwhite 5. That approach does not work. Amazon requires me to send in the old device and wait for appraisal. The $20 trade-in credit and 20% off for a new Kindle will be given only after appraisal. I want to wait until Black Friday to see if Amazon offers any special deals on Paperwhite 5 before sending my newly acquired Kindle basic. By the time I see a good deal, it will be too later to wait for appraisal.
So, I tend to give up the idea of trade-in for now.
Meanwhile,, long story short, as I might not do the trade-in, I fully tested this Kindle basic in the past few days. I just finished reading a novel on it. To be fair, this device is not bad. For $49.99, it is a great bargain especially it comes with 8G storage. It has the new software and include power saving feature.
Another bonus is Amazon told me the hard way for trade-in but then they offered to remove the Ads for free.
They say you need to wait for the appraisal, but when you go through with the process, the money is automatically put in your account, and you get the 20% discount on the first Kindle you order.
They may have changed it, but I’ve been through this process twice before, and both times, I waited for my new Kindle to arrive before even sending the trade-in. Meaning I was never without my Kindle. I imagine that was their ok intent.
Do you know if there’s a time limit on which you have to use the 20% discount?
I do believe Mike is right, as long as the Kindle is registered to your account there shouldn’t be a wait. I just traded a Kindle for the new Paperwhite and that’s how it worked for me.

I did all the steps but the although the wifi is connected after I did all the steps, the rooted browser and the apps in the rooted interface do not have an internet connection. Do you know what causes this?

Sorry but that’s from over nine years ago. It would be more surprising if it still worked. The security protocols are surely far outdated by now.
