The Kindle Oasis 2 is the only Kindle to not have a matching Amazon cover available to purchase. Amazon offered fabric and leather covers initially, but after a slew of negative reviews they stopped selling the covers, and now they’re only available used.
It’s been a couple months now and still the Amazon covers have not returned. I actually like the fabric cover that I bought so it’s kind of surprising that Amazon hasn’t brought them back yet.
Now Amazon is advertising CaseBot covers in the add-on section of the Kindle Oasis product page.
They’re doing the same over on Amazon UK as well.
The CaseBot covers are made by Fintie and they are similar to Amazon’s original covers but they’re less expensive and they cover the full back instead of just covering part of the back.
They have the auto sleep/wake feature but they lack the foldable stand option Amazon’s covers had.
Like the original Kindle Oasis cases, the CaseBot covers come in fabric and leather. The fabric covers are available in four colors and the leather covers come in three colors.
The fabric covers are currently selling for $26.99 with free shipping and the leather covers are $29.99 to $30.98.

Interesting that the (claimed) genuine leather cover in burgundy is selling for less than fabric covers.
More to the point, the idea behind the original Amazon cover was that it was easily removable for reading. In fact, that was one of the features I enjoyed most about this device.
This cover doesn’t offer that.

I go the exact same case but faux leather on ebay for $8 it is exact in every way otherwise. Do not spend this kind of money when you can spend less than $10 on ebay.

And the device is easily removable

Here is one you won’t believe. I just received my 9th gen Oasis with the newest CaseBot illustrated above. If I manually power off (9 sec hold, Screen Off option) my Kindle before closing the case and retiring for the night, my battery is drained with a large battery symbol in the middle of the screen and an explanation point in the middle. I have to plug it into AC power for a few minutes and then it reboots itself. So I guess Fintie is not expecting anyone to manually power off the kindle when their case is attached. Also strange, for a $350 kindle, I have no software option to disable the case (and its magnet) from auto turning the device off or on. So my theory is when I manually completely power off my kindle, the case wakes up upon closing the lid and proceeds to drain my battery while I’m the one doing the sleeping. How screwed up it that???
Nathan says
There’s no reason to manually turn off the screen before closing the cover so I don’t see this problem coming up very often. It kind of defeats the purpose of having an auto sleep/wake cover.
vrf says
Mike, wouldn’t that situation happen with all auto sleep/wake covers, or is there something about the magnets on the Casebot one that makes it special?
Nathan says
I tried it with the Amazon cover last night and it didn’t turn on the screen or drain the battery…

According to a post from Jan 25th on the German site lesen.net an Amazon spokesman said there will be new original Amazon covers for the Kindle Oasis 2017 available in the upcoming weeks.
