It looks like Amazon has changed the new Kindle Oasis just enough to cause an issue with some covers not working properly.
There are two separate aspects in regards to the Kindle Oasis cover incompatibility issue.
First off, Amazon removed the magnets on the back contoured edge of the new Kindle Oasis, so if you have an original cover for the Oasis 2 that attaches on the back with magnets it will not work with the new Kindle Oasis, only cases that cover the entire back will work.
Secondly, the location of the auto sleep/wake magnet seems to have changed slightly.
There are a number of reports of some 3rd party covers not turning the Kindle on and off when closing and opening the cover, even when the description specifically states the cover supports the auto sleep/wake feature.
The official Kindle Oasis covers that Amazon sells work properly. They’re the same for both the Kindle Oasis 2 and 3, the 9th and 10th generation models.
But for some reason a number of 3rd party covers that work with the Oasis 2 don’t work with the Oasis 3 in regards to the auto sleep/wake feature.
If you’re buying a case for the new Kindle Oasis make sure it says it will work with the 10th gen model, and even then it still might not work if they haven’t figured out the differences yet, which appears to be the case with this popular Ayotu case. The most recent reviews say that it doesn’t work with the new Oasis even though the description says it does. Hopefully they’ll get things straightened out soon.

I have that case and can verify auto wake/sleep is not working. I can also verify the Amazon cases do work. I’ll try the casebot in the morning.

Casebot doesn’t work either. Still fits, just doesn’t use auto sleep.

Hi, do you know which if any cases do work with new Oasis? Official Amazon covers impossible to find for me in NZ.

Yeah, this happened to me. I had a new Ayotu (attaches on the back with magnets, doesn’t attach to O3) and two full-cover (Moko and Fintie), where autowake doesn’t work.
Unexpectedly.

JETech case advertised for 9th and 10th gen Oasis doesn’t activate sleep/wake on the 10th gen.

Dear all, I am an avid user of Aliexpress. So I contacted one of the sellers and he confirmed that their products have this function. The descriptive name of the case/ cover is BOZHUORUI Origami Case for New Kindle Oasis. I got it within 11 days to Poland which was great speed 🙂 It looks pleasantly, suede-like and indeed – wakes my Oasis 3 as well as puts it back to sleep on closing.

I’ve purchased 2 covers for my 10th Gen Oasis now. Fintie didn’t work for sleep/wake. Returned it, purchased Casebot and advt clearly stated sleep/wake works for 10th Gen. It doesn’t. Very frustrating.

Does anyone know if I can get a simple case for my Kindle Oasis 10th Generation, WITHOUT magnets?
I only want to protect a bit, in case of dropping the device onto tiled floor!
Even a silione back cover would be ok.
Thank you

I have just bought a cheap case online. It works well putting the Oasis to sleep but if you fold the cover right back the magnets kick in from behind and switch it off while I’m reading.
Most of the cases offered by Amazon seem to be unavailable where I live.
