Today Amazon released the third software update for the Kindle Scribe since it was released last November, and it’s a pretty big update for PDF users. The new software version is 5.16.2. In my PDF review for the Kindle Scribe, I talked about how sideloaded PDFs have different features than PDFs sent using Send to […]

Kobo Clarifies Mandatory Software Update Requirements
Last week Kobo started sending out emails to some Kobo ereader owners about a mandatory software update, but it raised more questions than answers so now there’s a notice on Kobo’s help website that clarifies some of the details. There was some confusion about the update because they didn’t give any details about what software […]
New Software Update for Kindle Scribe Released
Amazon has released another software update for the Kindle Scribe that adds some nifty new features. The new software version is 5.16.1.3, dated April 2023. The update is only available for the Kindle Scribe; there is no update for other Kindle models at this time. This is the second update that Amazon has released for […]

Kobo has started sending out emails to customers notifying them about a “mandatory software update” for older Kobo ereaders (the full list is at the bottom of this article), including the Kobo Clara HD, which they were still selling as recently as last year. Now this week Amazon has an update package available for the Kindle Scribe as well, and unlike last week’s update for other Kindles that didn’t appear to change anything at […]

The update still isn’t showing up on Amazon’s software page just yet, but thanks to a heads-up by jhowell at MobileRead you can download […]
Major Software Update Released for Pocketbook eReaders
I saw a post over at MobileRead about a new software update being released for Pocketbook’s line of ereaders, and it appears to be a fairly major update that brings a lot of changes. The new software version is 6.7.1X (the exact version number varies by model), and it’s available for the InkPad 3, the […]
List of Latest Software Version for Every Kindle
I’ve noticed that it’s pretty common for people to encounter problems with their Kindles when the software isn’t up-to-date, especially on older models. If you buy an older Kindle, some of the features might not work properly or you might have trouble registering it if the software is outdated. Amazon’s customer service is pretty clueless […]
